We are outraged by the murder of another Black person by law enforcement and we mourn the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all of our brothers and sisters that have been killed at the hands of racial violence. We are a community in great pain. The nationwide protests underscore the longstanding racial injustice and systems of white supremacy that continue to infiltrate our communities and take the lives of innocent people.
Silence is not an option.
Right now we are facing two fatal pandemics, COVID-19 and systemic oppression. Every day we see first hand how racial injustice perpetuates human trafficking. And as both pandemics continue, we are facing an unprecedented demand for our services and justice. As a human rights coalition, we have both wept and mobilized under one accord – that we stand in solidarity with Black communities and all those who are subject to racism. Today and every day we join others around the world who are calling for equality.
As we stand strong in our fight to end human trafficking, we will not be silent about racial injustice.
