Objective:
The objective of the Youth Program Survivor Internship is to build work experience, self-empowerment to survivors of human trafficking and learn more about the operation of the youth program. The Youth Intern will support the Youth Program through a variety of tasks related to youth activities, quarterly workshops, focus groups, client satisfactory surveys, and other activities.

Skills and experience gained during internship:

  • Setting Boundaries/ Work Life Balance
  • Basic computer literacy skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Decision making on the job
  • Team building skills
  • Effective Communication Skills and Emotional Intelligences
  • Exposure to a field that might offer future employment or career direction

Intern reports to: Senior Case Manager

Location: Hybrid

Duration: Ability to commit to 1 year

Internship Stipend: Intern will be paid monthly $16.90-18/hour for a maximum of 20 hours per month. In addition, intern will get reimbursed for transportation expenses.

Qualification: Graduate of Youth Program post 1 year. 21 years of age not older than 26.

Internship Duties:

  • Intern will commit to bi-weekly supervision: 1 in person supervision and 1 virtual (1hr each) with Senior Case Manager
  • Gain an understanding of Human Trafficking
  • Assist in planning and organizing monthly youth activities and quarterly workshops
  • Build relationships with youth program clients to promote the growth and participation in monthly youth activities and quarterly workshop
  • Provide survivor perspective
  • Intern must commit to attending one empowerment/professional development conferences or workshops throughout internship timeframe
  • Intern will commit to updating their resume at the end of internship.
  • Write a 1-2 page reflection on their year-long internship and possibly present to the team.
