Kay Buck
Fueled by a passion for justice, Kay has over 30 years’ experience leading human rights initiatives around the world. After working with grassroots coalitions in Asia, Kay went on to direct California’s Rape Prevention Resource Center and develop California’s Sexual Assault Response Team Manual and Strategic Plan to End Sexual Violence. Joining Cast in 2003, Kay built the organizational infrastructure for a nationally renowned evidence-based model of comprehensive care for survivors including the development of the first US shelter for trafficked women and survivor leadership programs that invest in survivors’ leadership to shape systemic changes to end human trafficking. Under Kay’s leadership, Cast became the first organization to receive the Presidential Award to Combat Slavery and Trafficking. Named as an LA Visionary by LA Business Journal and awarded an Ellis Island Medal of Honor, Kay holds an Honorary Doctorate from Mount St. Mary’s University and is currently a Stanton Fellow researching global public health models to improve the lives of Angelenos.
