Social Distancing Without Being Alone

Written By Danielle Wright

If the coronavirus pandemic has revealed anything, it is the stark inequalities vulnerable people endure. Faced with barriers to accessing care that will protect them and their families, human trafficking survivors are looking to Cast as their only resource. As a first responder, Cast is working around the clock to ensure survivors get the care they need and deserve.

Just a short time ago, we received a call on our 24-hour hotline from a survivor who was homeless and escaping from a trafficker. Running for her life, she could not afford to worry about the coronavirus. Our expert team responded immediately and got her safely to our emergency shelter where she is recovering in the comfort of her new home. She now has access to the health care services that she was denied living on the streets.

Now more than ever, survivors need us. As the impact of the Coronavirus unfolds, we are taking every precaution necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff and the survivors in our care. We call on you, our supporters, to join us as a community and show survivors they can count on us. Help us continue our first response efforts by donating to our emergency fund today.

Coming soon: Join us for an intimate conversation with Cast CEO, Kay Buck, and Legal Services Director, Nagwa Ibrahim as they answer the hard questions about human trafficking in this public health crisis. Stay tuned for details.
